description:

Polygons representing the extents and attributes of attendance areas for senior high schools (grades 10-12) defined and used by Edmonton Public School Division for the 2026-27school year.

School attendance areas are used to define the designated school for every residential address in Edmonton. Some areas are defined as dual-designation areas, i.e., two different schools are considered designated schools for these areas. Attendance areas may be modified based on a range of factors, including the opening of new schools, the closure of existing schools, and criteria such as school feeder patterns, walking distance, major roads, public transit routes, natural barriers, commuter patterns, infrastructure, proximity of schools to one another and the availability of space to accommodate additional students.

Generally, students can attend their designated school if they pre-enrol by mid-April for the school year beginning the following September. However, not all students attend their designated school. Edmonton Public School Division policy supports school choice. Students may choose to attend any Division school, as long as the school has space and they meet any entrance requirements of the school in question. Many students, particularly in junior high (grades 7-9) and senior high (grades 10-12), attend a school other than the designated school in whose attendance area their place of residence is located. Information about Edmonton Public School Division’s approach to choosing a school is available here: https://www.epsb.ca/schools/findaschool/.
